Plastic Modelling
COMS members aim to achieve excellence in model building. While members might initially purchase a plastic kit from a retailer, the finished item may have been modified to suit a particular era or may have become part of a diorama depicting a particular scene. A lot of research, reconstruction of parts and smoothing of joints commonly occurs before a paint brush or air-brush is picked up to start work on the colour scheme.
The COMS is a member of IPMS, the International Plastic Modelers Society which originated in the UK in the 1960s. Our members compete against other modelling groups affiliated to IPMS, so there is always an emphasis on good quality of workmanship.
As well as competing at other venues, the COMS also hosts events - see the IPMS menu item for more information on plastic modelling and competion activities.
